In many states, the needs of gifted children are not being met. West Virginia, for example, receives an overall score of "C-" in learning for our high-performing students. By grade seven, gifted students who are not challenged often "check out," and may never reach their full potential.

We would like to see more of these students reach that full potential. Having a chance to attend our program can make that difference. Our camp, modeled after those at Ivy League schools, is the most affordable of its type in the nation. Students live in a college dorm for two weeks and take STEM classes from college professors during the day, while in the evenings and on weekends they take part in exciting activities led by college-age counselors.

One of our former campers said of the program: "At the Wesleyan Summer Gifted Program, not only did I learn so much and have a blast, but I also made a lot of life-long friends. The classes are always interesting and an actual challenge, and the camp makes the two weeks fun. I think a part of me has been shaped by this program."

It is our goal to make sure as many gifted students as possible can attend this life-changing program, not just those with a stable income. To open the Wesleyan Summer Gifted Program to more low- and middle-income students, we must substantially increase our financial aid resources.

With your help, we will strengthen our student financial aid and we can impact advanced learners of all backgrounds. Your gift to the Wesleyan Summer Gifted Program will demonstrate your firm belief in the next generation of thinkers, doers, and dreamers.

Gifts of $650 or $1300 will provide half or full scholarships for needy students, however a gift of even $20 will be greatly appreciated. You can also donate through the Kroger Community Rewards Program.

West Virginia Wesleyan College is a registered 501(c)(3) organization and all donations to the Wesleyan Summer Gifted Program are tax deductible.
